2005 FIFA Confederations Cup - Groups

The FIFA Confederations Cup kicks off on 15 June 2005 in Cologne, in what will be the seventh edition of a tournament that was first played back in 1992 when four teams locked horns in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The first tournament, then known as the King Fahd Cup.
The 1997 tournament was the first to be held under the banner of the FIFA Confederations Cup. Riyadh was the setting once again, but now the number of teams had increased to eight.
The tournament in Germany will provide another dress rehearsal for the organisers of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany. The games will be played in five stadiums in Hanover, Cologne, Leipzig, Nuremberg and Frankfurt's Waldstadion which stages the final.
