Salgaocar SC played out a goalless draw against Mahindra United in their inaugural I-League match at the Nehru Stadium, Margao.
Starting with an unchanged line-up Mahindra United's coach Derrick Pereira kept confidence in his side which gave him his first win of the season against Sporting Clube but his team didn't kickstart until the second half began. The first half was a dull affair in which neither side created nothing nor any midfield was able to put together a good string of passes for some time. The first chance of the match fell to Mahindra winger Steven Dias who was put through down the right and was in a capable shooting position but instead decided to try and lay it off for his fellow team mate Andrews Pomeyie Mensah but the pass was intercepted by the birthday boy Angelo Colaco to give Mahindra a corner, which followed a succession of waves of attack by Mahindra in which they had a couple of chances falling to KN Ajayan and Pomeyie. Bello Rasaq had a header saved by Salgaocar goalkeeper Milagrio Medeira and that was the last attack which Mahindra virtually had. The urgency switched from Mahindra to Salgaocar who started creating attacks of their own and forced themselves back into reckoning to try and pick-up an important win and almost stole it late on when Angelo Colaco struck the bar with his free header from the box and another corner evaded Felix who was just a bit to slow to react to a half chance that fell his way .The match ended 0-0 but both sides would be wondering how close they were to picking up all three points.
