Phagwara's JCT slammed two goals to beat Air-India from Mumbai in a Round 16 match of the inaugural I-League played at the Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana. With today's win JCT moved to 29 points from 16 matches to keep their title hopes alive, while Air-India stay on 17 points from the same number of matches.
After a barren first half, JCT's Brazilian striker Eduardo da Silva Escobar struck the first goal in the 55th minute from a long range freekick. JCT's Leftback Daljit Singh scored the second goal in the 67th minute of the game with a strong left footer from close to the halfway line. Air-India, who were dominant in the first half, squandered many chances to go ahead. JCT keeper Karanjit Singh made some brilliant saves in the first as well as second half to deny the Airmen.
