Editors-in-Chief Arunava Chaudhuri and Chris Punnakkattu Daniel:
Soccerex
2005 - The global business convention for football worldwide will be held
from November 13 to 15, 2005 at the Madinat Jameirah, Dubai and IndianFootball.Com
as an official media partner will be there to cover the event. So Chris
and myself (Arunava) fly out of Germany to Dubai on November 11 to be
there for those three days.
Soccerex is the largest football industry gathering each year, which is
used for networking and we hope many will want to hear from us about Indian
football and the chances that it has. We hope to generate interest and
that people look at our country!
Daily
Notes
November
13: We got ourselfs registered and accredited in the morning at the 'Madinat
Jumeirah', the conference/convention venue here in Dubai. And what can
I say, it is a dream venue like in "1001 Arabian Nights" with
a beautiful surrounding scenary where you have marvelous buildings and
also look at the "Burj Al Arab" hotel. Just have a look at the
great outside venue pictures that Chris has taken.
In the early evening there was a VIP and media reception on the artificial
Fort Island at the 'Madinat Jumeirah', where one got the chance to interact
with people working in the football industry. VIPs present where football
greats like English Sir Bobby Robson, Sam Allardyce, Bryan Robson, Ian
Dowie and Brazilian World Cup champion Leonardo. We had some good and
interesting chats with people, who mainly had little to no knowledge on
Indian football at all, but many seemed interested to hear what we had
to say about the game's situation in our country.
November 14: coming soon...
November 15: It was INDIA Day at Soccerex 2005 for us today as we met
many people involved directly or indirectly with Indian football or having
some sort of connection to the game in our country. It came as a complete
surprise to us, but it was good to see some old faces and to add the face
to others, whom we have been in touch with for ages, but have never met.
The quote of the day comes from Gary Lovejoy, Zee Sports COO, "It
is worth the investment" after being asked in a podium discussion
by moderator Peter Hutton (Ten Sports), if Indian football is worth the
hassle. We all hope for the best.
People in the football industry are interested in Indian football and
in the coming days we will tell you more about that interest, but after
a day of nearly non-stop talking, telling people about the Indian game,
we have only updated the pictures with infos on the convention coming
as soon as possible for us.
