Nadkarni Cup 2006:
from 18.July upto 5.August 2006 in Mumbai, Maharashtra

The Nadkarni Cup which was first held way back in 1939 had been suspended between 1983 to 2000 due to factionalism in Mumbai football. It has been revived since the 2000 season onwards, though it was skipped again in 2004.The late Ghanashyam Nilkanth Nadkarni had donated the trophy for the tournament.
The number of participants for the 2006 Nadkarni Cup tournament has almost doubled, to 23, making modest the previous year's figure of 12. Most of the MDFA Elite, Super and Senior Division teams, with the exception of the Railway teams (competing in National Inter-Railways meet), face-off in this knock-out tournament that serves as the Mumbai football season's curtain-raiser. During the tournament Mahindra United and Mumbai United (formerly known as Holy Family) pulled out.
If matches end with a draw after 90 minutes, there will be no extratime, but directly a penalty shootout
