The 26th Federation Cup was held from 24.November upto 5.December 2004 in Bangalore, Karnataka. The 16 best teams of India, the 12 National League and the four best 2.Division sides played to win the knockout tournament. In the end Dempo SC won their first-ever Federation Cup title, but that didn't count that day as Dempo's Brazilian striker Cristiano Junior died on the pitch.
