Note-5: by Xavier Rutsa: An exciting tussle is on the card for the grand finals between Puliebadze Club and New Reserve Youth Organization on Tuesday at 13.00 IST of the 6th NSF Martyrs football championship. Both teams are on their maiden appearance for the title clash.
Out of the two, Puliebadze Club seem to have edge over their opponents New Reserve Youth Organization, with the Puliebadze Club having a much easier run to make to the finals, while NRYO had to faced some anxious moments on the way to finals. Both teams have played so far four matches apiece in their journey for the summit clash. Puliebadze Club so far has blasted 10 goals and conceded 2, on other hand New Reserve Youth Organization so far netted four goals and conceded three. Three matches of NRYO victory came from tiebreaker (penalty shoot-out).
The forwards of Puliebadze Club like Khriesaneilie Sote and Lipok could a play decisive role for their team's victory. Both the keeper's Akavi (PC) and Toshi (NRYO) are the players to watch on the custodian, as they had so far outstanding run in the championships. Yanger and Abido of Puliebadze Club could be play marker in the middle line, which can upset the apple cart of NRYO team. Of all the players in the finals, the man to watch is the tall lanky and longhaired defender of NRYO Imli, who had not only well cajoled the team, but also boosted the moral of the team. He could be well in contention for the player of the tournament, according to the sports journalists who are covering the entire championships. NRYO's Besavoyi and Seyiekituo can pulled up the surprise with their run-ball shot at goal mouth.
"The New Reserve Youth Organization is playing a cohesive unit and have well stamina through out the match" said a member of the organizer committee, adding "don't be shocked if NRYO wins the title". But other football pundit says, "Its Puliebadze Club who will annexed the glittering trophy any way".
The guest of honour will be KV Pusa (MLA).

27th Federation Cup - Final: Mahindra United 1-1,1-0 Sporting Clube de Goa [extra time] - Goals: 1-0,2-1 Jose Ramirez Barreto (37',120'), 1-1 MacPherlin Dudu Omagbemi (58' - Penalty).
Mahindra United came out with their customary flat-back-four with Deepak Kumar Mondal starting at left back. S Venkatesh played the role of the deep lying playmaker, with Steven Dias and KN Ajayan on the respective right and left flanks. Surajit Bose played behind the United attacking duo of Gabriel and Barreto. Sporting's 4-4-2 starting formation consisted of Suresh David and Philip Gomes as the centre-backs; Vincent Pires and Rajesh N Meetei as the right and left full-backs; Nicholas Rodrigues and Bibiano Fernandes ran the central midfield; Nicolas Borges provided width from the right; Joseph Pereira was utilized on left of midfield, also to counter Mah U's threatening right wing duo of Surkumar Singh and Steven. Unsurprisingly, Dudu-Chidi were the strike combine.
In the 2nd minute itself Sandip Nandy was called into action with a good punch out from a dangerous cross by Nicholas Rodrigues. United tried their patient passing game at the start, whenever on the ball early on. The first few minutes were cagey, as both teams were trying to feel each other out, yet at the same time being unable to keep sustained possession. However, it was Sporting, whose attackers looked the slightly more sharper than their United counter-parts in the attacking third in those early minutes. In fact, it took a good half hour for Steven to get in a cross that worked Sporting 'keeper Felix D'Souza, proving that Sporting were executing their plan to neutralize the United threats in those early minutes. Nor was their any lack of commitment from either team on this big occasion. This was exemplified as both teams' strikers, United's Gabriel Umeh, and Sporting's Dudu were on occasions seen tackling deep in their own half. The defending holding sway was probably more responsible for the subdued start to the game. All this offensive inactivity probably got to Ajayan, who audaciously decided to try his luck from 40 yards on 20 minutes, and made Felix D'Souza stretch himself a bit for once.
United substituted Surajit with Subhas Chakraborty on 29 minutes. Surajit had not been involved much until then, and Subhas's introduction on the left-wing immediately added another dimension to United's play, with Ajayan slotting in beside Venkatesh in central midfield. Until then, Sporting had had the slightly better of the game. On 32 minutes, Dudu missed a golden opportunity to open the scoring as he slipped before he shot from close range, the opportunity itself arising following a Surkumar slip-up. United probably took that as a cue to get at Sporting, and within four minutes they had the lead, as Barreto trapped a nicely weighted chip ball from Ajayan, and shot across goal with his left foot. The ball took a wicked deflection off Philip Gomes, and looped into the goal, even as Gabriel thumped it in to doubly make sure. Replays indicated that trajectory of Barreto's shot was off-target, but for Philip's deflection. Still, the goal was credited to the Brazilian, so he took the lead over Dudu in the race for the Golden-Boot, 5 to 4, apart from the goal being the opener in the Final. And until then, Barreto had hardly had any effective touch of the ball. Following the goal, United grew in confidence. Subhash continued to cause trouble down the left. Centre-backs NS Manju and Mahesh Gawli never looked too uncomfortable in dealing with Dudu and Chidi, while goalkeeper Sandip Nandy was inspiring in collecting all threatening crosses. Coach Derrick Pereira would have been reasonably pleased by this performance leading into the half-time break.
Within 2 minutes of the restart, Sporting earned a direct-free-kick in a dangerous area. Barreto was booked for expressing his dissent by kicking the ball away at this decision by the referee. Edeh stepped up to take the kick, but his curling effort bounced off the outside of the post. Sporting might have considered themselves unlucky then, but their luck was about to change. Dudu made a darting run into the box in the 54th minute, and would have been in on goal but for a last-ditch tackle by Gawli. Gawli connected with the ball before he felled Dudu. But referee Rizwan-ul-Haq inexplicably pointed for a penalty despite being only a few yards away. Huge protests followed by the United players, which took a few minutes to be sorted out by the official. Dudu himself converted the penalty, even though Sandip guessed the right way.
The United players, in all likelihood feeling victimized, raised the pace of the game following the equalizer, as they looked to restore their advantage. Manju and Gawli continued to defend immaculately, as Sporting played this period of the game trying to absorb the pressure and hit United on the break. But with 20 or so minutes of normal time remaining, one could tell that a certain degree of fatigue was setting into the players, with both teams having played games in quick succession over the course of the tournament. This was specially the case with Sporting, as they had had a day less than United to recover, and their semi-final had gone until the tie-breaker. Moreover, neither team wanted to over-commit and then suffer through an error at such a late stage.
Defensively, Sporting did well to neutralize United's main threats, namely the right wing and Barreto. They came out with an organized game plan, and credit to them they pretty well stuck to it. Abhishek's introduction gave the Sporting defence another dimension to worry about, and Steven finally started to get some crosses in for his tall pal. Throughout the match, Venkatesh had made darting forays upfield, skipping past many a challenge and defender, but the final ball always was lacking. Sandip was playing a pretty effective sweeper-keeper, and making acrobatic collections in the nick of time, to enable the United strategy of pressing when not in possession be successful on all occasions. Towards the end United were pressing for the winner when possible, while Sporting restricted themselves to long-rangers here and there, whenever their midfielders were not closed down. Understandably, with Venkatesh, Ajayan, (and earlier Surajit) not the most defence-minded of midfielders, the Sporting midfield had pretty good opportunities to shoot, and maybe could have played the ball in the middle of the park more.
In the 90th minute there was almost drama, as from a Steven corner, Barreto's directed header was cleared from under the bar at the far post by Vincent Pires. When the ball immediately was put back in, Manju touched it over the bar from 5 yards, and was left ruing his golden chance. So 1-1 it ended at the end of regulation time.
Extra time was pretty well dominated by United. They seemed more determined to win the match before the tie-breaker. Within the first few minutes their superior physical fitness compared to Sporting was visible, and they were winning all the 50-50 tackles. United sustained their pressing game for the entire match. It was just in their attacking inter-play they had been lacking, some reason for which was the solid Sporting defensive organization. With 8 minutes left till penalties, Ajayan pulled his hamstring, and Rauf Khan took his place in midfield. In the 114th minute, Sporting could have snatched victory as Nicholas Rodrigues directed a header at the back-post, off a left-wing cross, on target. It was only an amazingly acrobatic save from Sandip that kept United in the game. Then again Sandip came to the rescue with a sweeper-keeper-style-header.
On their next foray upfield in the last minute of play, United got their deserved winner. The tiring Sporting defence was caught square and flat-footed. Steven was not closed down in midfield, and with Barreto shaping to run in behind the defence, Steven fed a delightfully weighted lob for the Brazilian striker. Barreto, with equal dexterity, lobbed the ball over the hapless Felix D'Souza, after having finally overcome the Sporting offside trap. The United players and bench all went wild with celebration, as the Sporting players just looked aghast at each other in horror at the timing and manner of their defeat.

Churchill continued their raids on the Salgaocar goal and scored two more goals before the breather, Carlos Fernandes in the 20.minute and striker Tony Gbemudu Ngozi in the 39.minute. Churchill continued their attacks in the second half, but had to wait late to score two more. Note-2: The Chief Coach of the Maharashtra Santosh Trophy team, Mr. Irenio Vaz, had a few words with IndianFootball.com Editor Sujay Sharma before the departure of the team to Kerala, following their selection-cum-preparation camp at the Cooperage.
On his expectations of the Maharashtra team, Mr. Vaz said, "Our goal is to first qualify for the Quarter-finals. Then we will take it from there step-by-step. I'm hopeful that the players will make a good first impression at the tournament from the first match itself, as the first impressions are the best."
On being queried about the state of preparation of the team, Mr. Vaz did highlight that the preparation time had been very short - in part because the MDFA Elite Division finished very late. Shifting focus to the positive aspects of the team, Mr. Vaz stressed, "I must point out that we are taking a very young team. Maybe they are lacking in experience a bit, but they are an exuberant and excited bunch, who are looking forward to the tournament." He added that the Mahindra United and Air-India players would form the nucleus of the team. Steven Dias for example would definitely be a key player. He's had an excellent Federation Cup, and Team Maharashtra will be hoping for him to continue his rich vein of form with them.
The favourites according to Mr. Vaz: "The usual suspects - Bengal, Kerala. Kerala specially as they will have home support." While concluding, he did raise an insightful point, "The last time the Santosh Trophy was held in Kerala, in 2000, Maharashtra had gone there in similar circumstances. And on that occasion we had won it."
Note-3: Mumbai's Bank of India has been relegated from the Mumbai Elite League to the Super Division, as Bengal Mumbai FC got a last-match draw they needed to avoid relegation themselves. Meanwhile if Indian Navy are admitted to the MDFA League next year, they will only be entered into the Super Division, which means way they are relegated too.

Note-1: PTI report: Churchill Brothers have alleged foul play by the match officials and demanded replay of their semi-final encounter with Mahindra United. Churchill Bros lost 1-4 to Mahindra United on Wednesday in the semifinal after being the first team to score.
In a letter to AIFF secretary Alberto Colaco, Churchill Bros patron Churchill Alemao took strong exception to the casual approach of referee, especially under television glare.
Churchill's major grouse was the Surkumar Singh equaliser which came in unfortunate circumstances. The referee should have stopped play when NS Manju was down on the ground and awarded a foul in favour of Churchill Bros for contact with the goalkeeper, Churchill wrote in the letter.
"Knowing the gravity of head injuries, all our players appealed for the ball to be put out and desisted from active play. The referee didn't bother to protect the injured player," it further said. The club patron also complained that assistant referee Chamchuk Lama failed to flag Jose Ramirez Barreto off side while scoring Mahindras's second goal.

Note-4: Delhi have lost their star player Sunil Chetri for the 60th Santosh Trophy due to a technical mistake. Chetri, who plays for Punjabi side JCT Mills, was with the Delhi squad for a few days before being recalled by his club, who stated that Chetri was being recalled as the Delhi Soccer Association's application to release Chetri came in too late. JCT cited the example of keeper Kalyan Chaubey, who was wanted by the IFA for the Bengal team, and got his release; while Manipur made a late appeal to release Renedy Singh for their state team, but it was turned down. For Delhi it is a big blow and clearly weakens the team.

27th Federation Cup - Semifinal: Sporting Clube de Goa 1-1,5-4 Salgaocar SC [penalties] - Goals: 0-1 Micky Fernandes (41'), 1-1 Chidi Edeh (72').
Sporting Clube de Goa overcame Salgaocars SC in the second semi-final of the 27th Federation Cup, to set up a grand Sunday finale against Mumbai giants Mahindra United. Salgaocars will have to content themselves with a 3rd place match against fellow Goan outfit Churchill Brothers on Saturday.
The game had finished 1-1 after regulation time, following which the deadlock remained unresolved at the end of the further 30 minutes of extra time. The lottery of the tie-breaker went Sporting's way, as they took it 5-4, converting all their penalties in the process. Menino Fernandes was the only unlucky shooter, as his spot-kick went wide.
Earlier in normal time, on a greasy pitch following showers in Goa, Mickey Fernandes had given Salgaocars the lead. The favourites, Sporting, only managed to equalise in the 72nd minutes courtesey their prolific striker Chidi Edeh's fourth strike of the tournament - which makes him the joint top scorer along with Mahindra's Jose Baretto. That chase for the Golden Boot between Chidi and Baretto has added another dose of flavour to what promises to be a mouth-watering conclusion to the Federation Cup.
Penalty Shootout: Sporting Clube: Chidi Edeh, Nicholas L Rodrigues, Bibiano Fernandes, Rajesh N Meetei, MacPherlin Dudu Omagbemi. Salgaocar: Menino Fernandes (miss), Prashant Jaggi, Kamal Thapa, Bhuvan Krishna Joshi, Samson Singh.
Sporting Clube de Goa beat their Goan state rivals Salgaocar SC 5-4 in a penalty shootout after a 120 minutes one-all stalement at the Nehru Stadium, Margao to reach their first-ever Federation Cup final.
Man of the Match: Chidi Edeh (Sporting Clube).

After the AFC decided to postpone the Asian Cup 2007 preliminary round qualifier between Pakistan - Bangladesh scheduled for November 2005 due to the massive earthquake in Pakistan which has left thousands of people dead, there had been speculations that the SAFF Cup might also be postponed as well. But this is not the case and Karachi will witness south Asia's top national teams slugging it out for the title.

Bhowmick after his clubs early Federation Cup penalty shootout exit against Churchill Brothers said he is taking all the blame for his clubs failure for once more unable to bring the Fed Cup to the club. Certain sections of the media in Calcutta heavily criticised Bhowmick, one of the reasons being the omission of Baichung Bhutia, which resulted in the coach stating he was willing to step down, but after a meeting of East Bengal Club officials, the officials wanted Bhowmick to stay on. And as of now Bhowmick has agreed to stay.

27th Federation Cup - Semifinal: Mahindra United 4-1 Churchill Brothers SC - Goals: 0-1 Tony Gbemudu Ngozi (19'), 1-1 Surkumar Singh (26'), 2-1,3-1 Jose Ramirez Barreto (53',55'), 4-1 Abhishek Yadav (90+').
Mahindra United continue to get more impressive with every passing game in this the 27th Federation Cup. They marched to the finals with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Goan outfit Churchill Brothers SC, where they await the winner of the other semifinal between the Goan teams of Salgaocar SC and Sporting Clube de Goa.
United took control of the game from the get-go, looking for the early lead as they had done in their previous match against HAL. Although forwards Jose Barreto and Gabriel Umeh didn't see too much of the ball in the early minutes, the United midfield diamond consisting of Deepak Mondal at the base, Surajit Bose at the apex, and Steven Dias and Shanmugam Venkatesh out wide inter-played the ball well as they controlled possession. Surkumar Singh and Krishnan Nair Ajayan were adding to the width from their full-back positions.
However it was Churchill who took the lead against the run of play with Tony reacting quickest to volley home following a horrendous mix-up in the United defence between centre-back Mahesh Gawli and goalkeeper Sandip Nandy. For a few minutes following the goal, United looked a bit out of sorts, as Churchill looked to consolidate this fortuitious advantage. However, the United players regrouped soon enough. Off a corner, the brave NS Manju got clattered by Churchill keeper Vinay Singh, and lay on the ground as play carried on. The ball broke to Surkumar outside the penalty box, and unsurprisingly for him, he let it rip with his deadly right-foot. The shot got a slight deflection and ball nestled in the back of the net past the hapless Vinay. After finding the equaliser, United pressed on for the lead. Barretto came close twice in quick succession: first with a rasping left-footer that cannoned off the bar-post apex, and then a right-footer that swerved wide at the last moment.
It didn't take long in the second half for Barreto to begin troubling the scorers. Two accurate assist from the right by Steven Dias (the first a timely cut-back, and the second an early cross-in), saw Barreto show the best of his goal-poaching instincts, as he made his way to the near post on each occasion, and side-footed the ball in. The game was probably over then and there. Steven added another assist from the right, as he curled in a cross converted by a diving header at the near-post by the substitute Abhishek Yadav in injury time. 4-1 it thus finished, and in no way was the sore-line flattering to the victors.
Jose Ramirez Barreto was voted the man-of-the-match, and is the leader in the chase for the Golden-boot award with 4 goals. Although he did stress post-match that winning the final would be the only motivation, and that the golden-boot award is secondary. Well said like a true pro that he is. United manager Henry Menezes thanked the sporting crowd at the stadium, and said he was looking forward to meet the winner of the Sporting Clube-Salgaocar final, whomever it might be.
Man of the Match: Jose Ramirez Barreto (Mahindra).

Note-1: by Armstrong Vaz: The 60th Santosh Trophy is round the corner from November 4 in Kerala and the national coach is on the lookout for players of caliber will take him from the Federation Cup to the Santosh Trophy. Goa have appointed former India captain and Dempo assistant coach Mauricio Afonso as coach of the team. Mauricio one of the renowned midfielders of his time has quite a task ahead of him in the days to come. He has already served as coach of the Goa under-21 team and will handling the Goa senior team for the first time.
The Chinchinim-based former India caption has served both under Armando Colaco at Dempo SC, India senior team coach Stephen Constantine as well as Islam Akhmedov for the age group teams.
Mauricio has no time to put the teams to their paces with the Federation Cup around. "Fitness should not be problem for the boys but with a short time players combining for fluency of attacks will be a course of concern," he informed. He however added that performing for the Santosh Trophy will motivate the boys to give their best.
Sources informed that the Goan Santosh Trophy squad has been finalized by a selection committee, with the performance in the Goa Pro League taken into account. Goans football fans have lost count when the last trophy came back to Goa and are hoping that the impasse is broken these time around.
Hosts Kerala in the meanwhile have written to the clubs of the players where Kerala based players are playing to release the players for their Santosh Trophy campaign to be held in their own back yard. Meanwhile it was not immediately known as to how many of the outstation players presently playing in Goa have been sought by their home state associations of their birth.
Meanwhile national coach Nayeemuddin plans to start the national camp which is likely to suffer a setback with the Santosh Trophy around even as the national coach has gone on record that state must sacrifice for the sake of the country. Coach Nayeemuddin's best chance to scout for talent and a real chance to players to excel in the absence of foreign players in the ring will be the Santosh Trophy.
If the Federation Cup and the Goa Pro League campaigns are taken into account, the national coach who is looking to find quality strikers will have a chance to see more of Anthony Pereira and Freddy Mascarenhas. Raia Sporting Club strikers Wesley Coutinho and Rehman Cardozo, besides Dempo strikers Sebastiao Endro and Joaquim Abranches if selected for the Goan team will be trying to impress the selectors. Anthony Pereira and Freddy Mascarenhas have already played in the Federation Cup while Dempo strikers Sebastiao Endro and Joaquim Abranches with Dempo's early exit could not take the field and also with Dempo coach Armando Colaco preferring foreign to local talent with the prestigious Federation Cup title defence in mind.
One striker who has impressed the coach and has also goals against his name is Churchill's Freddy Mascarenhas who has carried his form of the Goa Pro League into the Federation Cup. His village colleague from Raia sporting striker Wesley Coutinho, who has also collected two "Man of the Match awards" in the Goa Pro League will be thus itching to find his feet in the Santosh Trophy campaign.

In some great News about ourselfs: The BBC World TV Programme "ClickOnline" in it's website feature section highlighted IndianFootball.com besides a number of other websites:
Read the text of the feature about us:
Football is a sport that has taken India by storm and our next website all about the sport was sent in to clickonline@bbc.co.uk by its editor, Sujay Sharma.
IndianFootball.com is the place to go if you want to know the ins and outs of the leagues and teams making their mark in India.
It seems the sport is still in its early stages of organisation here at the moment and this website provides a comprehensive database of all the players and results that count. But it is very text heavy, with lots of tables and stats that will only really appeal to those of you for whom football is already a passion.
The links on the left take you to all the various sections with one-click ease and the lack of images and fancy extras will no doubt appeal to our narrowband surfers again. But if you just cannot survive without a little visual stimulation, the picture gallery under Inside Football contains a few good photographs depicting the highs and lows of the season.
27th Federation Cup kicks-off tomorrow:
The 27th Federation Cup, India's Premier Knockout tournament, kicks-off tomorrow with two matches when holders and local side Dempo SC face Bangalore's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited SC in the afternoon and then in the evening Calcutta giants East Bengal Club face their Mumbai counterparts from Air-India. The tournament will be kicked-off by Goa Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane.
The tournament is to launch a new era with Zee Sports showing all matches live in high quality broadcast, something unknown to Indian football, but usual elsewhere in the world. And the competition is set to be tough with all teams wanting to know, where they stand at the beginning of the national season, and the knockout format ensuring that teams will have to go all out from the beginning.
The Goa FA along with the Sports Authority of Goa and the AIFF have worked overtime to ensure that all is in place for the start of the tournament, so one can look forward to 12 interesting days of football action. With not all transfer formalities done, the AIFF has extended the deadline until 11.00 IST tomorrow morning.
Defending champions Dempo SC face a tricky encounter against Hindustan Aeronautics Limited SC. Dempo has had an excellent start to the local season, leading in the Goa Pro League; while HAL has had a disasterous start in the Puttiah Memorial - losing their supremacy in Bangalore, firing their coach Ravi Kumar and bringing back seasoned Krishnaji Rao, but with no competitive matches lately, the team does not know where it stands. Plus the suicide of influencial Dayanand in the summer has had it's toll on the team.
Later in the day, East Bengal Club launch another quest to win the Fed Cup, the one title that coach Subhas Bhowmick has not won with the club in the last few years. Surely Baichung Bhutia will be missing from action and the club hasn't dominated Calcutta football as in the last few years, but with the foreigners coming in and the local players getting back to form, a lot can be expected from the red-and-gold. But their opponent Air-India from Mumbai are no pushovers. The Bimal Ghosh coached side has some interesting talent to boast off and having beaten archrivals Mahindra United twice in the local season means the team can pull off the one or the other surprise.

Note-1: Mahindra United's plans to make a strong challenge for the 27th Federation Cup could be dented before the tournament has even started. The catch price for the Jeepmen where the signings of foreigners Jose Ramirez Barreto and Yakubu Yusif. While Barreto's signing was no problem, the one for Yakubu has turned out to be one. Yakubu's former club, Churchill Brothers SC, are asking for USD 5,000, the transfer fee the Goans paid for the Ghanian striker in 2001 to the Egyptian club he played for earlier. Now they want that sum as transfer fee before signing the "No Objection Certificate" send to them by the Goa FA on Saturday. This whole episode could lead to Yakubu missing Mahindra's opening match on Thursday against JCT Mills. The AIFF hopes the matter would be sorted by wednesday afternoon, so Yakubu can or cannot play on Thursday.

While keeper Gopal Das, also originally fined, has sought an apology from the officials and has been included in the team; Raman stands by his point that he has the right to speak out against the whimsical and autocratic behaviour of a section of the club officials. Raman also said that he has not received his full advance as promised by the club.
Meanwhile to strengthen their team ahead of the Federation Cup, Sporting have taken four players on loan. They are defenders Mir Farroq Hyder (Churchill Brothers SC) and Surajit Chakraborty (EverReady SA), midfielder Kaushik Prasad (Calcutta Port Trust), and striker Bijen Singh (East Bengal Club).
Note-5: On medical grounds Dipendu Biswas and Harvinder Singh have been omitted from the Mohun Bagan team for the Federation Cup after the whole team went through medical tests. Now a shattered Dipendu wants to know why, after being omitted for the second time in a year (Mahindra United had omitted him earlier this year from the NFL), if his cardiac problems are career-threathing or not. Mohun Bagan like the player want the issue sorted, so the club will send Dipendu's medical report to FIFA, so the world governing body clarify this matter for once and for all.
Note-6: The 54th Bordoloi Trophy kicked-off yesterday in the Assam capital Guwahati, but this year without any big side taking part. Now one of two sides from outside the Northeast, the Tata Football Academy pulled out yesterday leaving Calcutta's SAIL as the only team from outside the Northeast.

I'm obviously not too happy with our state of preparation thus far, with all the disruptions to the local league and ground conditions, due to the rains in Mumbai this year. But I have competent players who are working well for me, and hopefuly we will peak at the right time during the Federation Cup.
We'll definitely try to get a third foreigner for the Fed Cup. Meanwhile, Barreto needs some rest, and is expected to arrive soon. So will Yakubu following the clearance of his transfer.

A number of player from last years winning squad are missing like goalkeeper TG Purushothaman, defender Sivakumar, midfielder Shabbir Ali and forward Naushad Pari; while SBT goalkeeper PV Harshal Rehman, who had an outstanding NFL is also a surprise omision.
Missing due to injury will be SBT defender Abdul Basheer, while Titanium's wing back K Sameer has been called but is likely to miss out, while KSEB's P Sanush Raj could also drop out due to injury. But SBT striker T Asif Saheer returns to the squad.
Some of the newcomers of the list are R Dhanarajan (Viva Kerala), H Anil and Jackson Sebastian (Titanium), PA Suneer (Kochi Port Trust) and Prince Paulose (SBT).

East Bengal so far have only signed Nigerian Mike Okoro, who has returned to strengthen the red-and-gold's attack. Now the club is looking for a defensive midfielder with the latest trialist being a player from South Africa with even discarded Douglas da Silva a possible inclusion in the season ahead.
Meanwhile archrivals Mohun Bagan, who have had an excellent season so far winning the Calcutta Premier League title have tested Brazilian defender Eduardo Chacon Coelho Lacerda and new sensation Gley Yao Rodrigue, a striker from Togo on board. At the moment it looks like the last place will go to Nigerian Akeem Abul Alem, who until last season was with Tollygunge Agragami. But some say other Nigerians Earnest Jeremiah, now in Bangladesh, and NFL top scorer MacPherlin Dudu Omagbemi could sign for the green-and-maroon. So one will have to wait and watch.
That Earnest Jeremiah will return to Calcutta from Bangladesh looks likely with Mohammedan Sporting also showing interest in him. Sporting just had a disasterous outing in the Sikkim Governor's Gold Cup trashed 3-0 by Border Security Force. Sporting so far have Ghanian utilityman Suley Musah and Nigerian Okonji Onyelo Patrick D'Souza in their ranks. But a goalscoring striker surely would be of help in the Fed Cup and also later in the season in their fight for survival.
