Note-1: According to Mohun Bagan AC former TFA cadet Gouramangi Singh would be soon joining the Calcutta Maidan giants on the verdict of Calcutta's City Civil Court that his transfer from TFA to Goan side Dempo SC was illegal as the players had taken an advance from Mohun Bagan. But what makes the story so complicated is that Mangi had been granted an Inter-State transfer to Dempo by the AIFF. So now Mangi would have to get papers sorted and Bagan send in documents to prove to the AIFF that Mangi can play for them. Mangi is taking no risks as the Indian junior captain does not want to jeopardise his career.

Note-2: It's the time of the season where Indian clubs get foreign players on trials, someone even test them, to see if they would strengthen their side.
Since the departure of Brazilian Jose Barreto midway through the last season, Mohun Bagan have been searching for a replacement. They now have a Brazilian forward in Regis but the clubs wants to add a third foreigners besides also having Brazilian defender Eduardo. Four African - three Nigerians and a Ghanian - are said to come for trials this week, but with the Bagan team away in Rangoon, Myanmar for friendly matches, the players would have to wait until the coaching staff is back.
Meanwhile Maidan rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club, who are languishing on a relegation spot in the Calcutta Super Division, are looking to strengthen their team with foreigners, but with limited finance the club cannot be choosy with their foreigners. So now with the team in dire need to be strengthened the club wants to sign Africans Henry and Michael Ajai. The needed papers have been called for.
Also on the lookout for a foreign player are champions East Bengal. With Nigerian striker-cum-midfielder Mike Okoro not set to return to the club, East Bengal are on the lookout for a capable striker. The name of Brazilian Jose Barreto, who had been with archrivals Mohun Bagan in the past, was one of the names being discussed.

PEPSI MAX CHALLENGE - Walkers Stadium, Leicester - 3rd Place Playoff: East Bengal Club 0-3 CS Maritimo Madeira - Goals: 0-1 Eusebio Souza (12'), 0-2 Selwyn Fernandes (32', own Goal), 0-3 Gustavo Manduca (69').
After an impressive performance against Leicester City, East Bengal took the field with confidence against the Portugese outfit CS Maritimo Madeira. However any chances of repeating Saturday's performance was put aside, when a cross from Maritimo's right hand side found striker Eusebio Souza, who comfortably converted the chance in the 12' minute. East Bengal were caught many times especially from the righ hand side on fast breaks. Also poor passing didn't help the cause either.
In the 32' minute, East Bengal failed to clear the ball inside the penalty box. As a result the ball ended in back of net when Selwyn Fernandes tried to clear the ball from Souza. The first half was dominated by the Portugese, who played to their attacking best. East Bengal lost too many balls in midfield and didn't retain possession.
Though the second half could be termed as even with East Bengal playing much better in terms of control and possession, they failed to covnvert the possession into any clear chances except few close runs by India captain Baichung Bhutia. Gustavo Manduca took advantage of a set piece - a freekick from the edge of the box to send in a good shot into the goal in the 69' minute. After that, Maritimo looked happy to defend. The match ended in a 3-0 defeat to East Bengal. CS Maritimo Madeira finished third in the competition.
The Leicester City FC 120th Anniversary tournament was a great experience for East Bengal, while playing some of the better European sides. CS Maritimo Madeira have been in top half of Portugese league and have consistently played in the UEFA Cup. Leicester City are one of well-known sides in England, although relegation from the Premier League last season.
