Note-1: "This is why Indian soccer is still where it is," national coach Stephen Constantine thundered. He had valid reasons for the remark too. The national team, in the Capital for the five-day training camp prior to their exposure tour of England, was hustled from one stadium to another, searching for a practice ground. The Delhi SA institutional league matches were in full flow with an inter-school tourney waiting to start, when Constantine led his wards through the Ambedkar Stadium tunnel on Tuesday morning. The local authority was, however, prompt to react. They asked the team to shift its practice session temporarily to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. And to the team's utter surprise, the ground was really empty. It didn't even have goalposts! And that took care of the morning's practice session. The same story was repeated in the afternoon again. Well almost. When they reached the Ambedkar Stadium, the institutional matches for the second session were on. So they were made to wait for an hour. But at least they could kick the ball around for some time after the ground was vacated at 6pm. The local authorities, meanwhile, have assured the availability of the Ambedkar Stadium henceforth.
