Note-1: This is a story that I found in the Midday newspaper:
"Handled without care" - by Deepak Narayanan
What started off as a dream to bring glory to Maharashtra, ended up as a nightmare for goalkeeper Niyati Lokur. And she is thanking her stars that she is still alive.
In the last five days, Lokur, the first choice goalkeeper of the Maharashtra football team, who was suffering from a mild case of viral hepatitis, has travelled two days in a general compartment on the Dadar-Amritsar Express, where people made place for her to sleep on the seats; she spent a miserable 52 hours at the Civil Hospital, Jallandhar, after Saturday, where her fever touched 106 and she went into a coma; and is finally recovering at the Sacred Heart Nursing Home after her parents flew down from Sangli and got her shifted.
"We reached on Monday morning. In the 10 hours that I was at the Civil Hospital, the doctor came just once. After I kept pestering them they put her on a saline drip. I had to remove the drip myself after it was empty," Kaustubh Lokur, himself a doctor, said sitting by his daughter's bed.
"I am a doctor. Thankfully I realised what was happening when she started sinking. By four pm, the fever had touched 105 and I knew she was becoming delirious. They were not even giving us water for a cold compress. When no doctor came even after pleading with the nurses, I decided to shift her out. Even for that I had to request a passerby to drop us off in his Maruti van as the hospital authorities refused to give us an ambulance," he continued.
Niyati's mother, Punita, couldn't stop singing praises of the Maharashtra team management, football manager Lata Menon in particular. "If it wasn't for Lata, I don't know what would have happened. She was with her throughout before we came, that too after going though a lot of trouble to get her admitted itself," Punita said.
As soon as they reached the Sacred Heart Nursing Home, Niyati was put in a tub of ice. Her fever came down dramatically, but will remain in bed for at least two weeks to recover from the dehydration. "If we had not moved her out of that hospital, she would have died in another couple of hours."
This is a story from Jalandhar, Punjab in November 2001, unbelievable...

Note-2: The 6th All Assam Club Football Championship will be held at Biswanath from December 16. The tournament is organize by the Assam Football Association. The champion team of the each district will represent the district in the tournament. Here some very sad news that I received from England:
The India captain Baichung Bhutia had a major operation on his damaged knee over the weekend. Bhutia, who plays for english second division side Bury FC, has been having problems on his knee, which seemed to have been solved with a small operation a few weeks ago but that wasn't the case.
The big question now is: When will Bhutia start training again and when will he return to action?
Bhutia is expected to be sidelined at least until March but it could be longer.
The worst case scenario is that Bhutia will never again play for Bury as his contract ends at the end of the season.
Bury manager Andy Preece said this afternoon. "It's sickener and we will obviously miss him. He was going to be a key player in the side this year."
The best wishes to Baichung from the indianfootball.de team. Get well soon Baichung...
