Today East Bengal won 2-0 away at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram against State Bank of Travancore in the final clash of the National League, winning their first-ever National League title and once again underlined their credentials as one of India's top clubs! The man of the match was Nigerian Omolaja Olalekan scoring two goals in the match to decide it in East Bengal's favour. While East Bengal was celebrating their league triumph, SBT had just been relegated to the second division of the National League.

It was further decided to recommend Goa United as the focus on Youth Development in the North and Vasco Sports Club and other clubs in the South who are sincerely carrying out youth development programmes to IFSC-INTERNATIONAL for support/coaches/kit and minor contributions towards diet. It was agreed that all specialists coaches would be rotated through all these centres. To start with, though, the Goa United programme at the St. Joseph's Orphanage would be the top priority and focal point. It has been decided that members should meet regurlarly, at least once in two months. It was finally decided that a meeting would be convened in the second week of May, 2001, for all members from Goa registered with IFSC-INTERNATIONAL.
