From January 1, 2010 Kolkata side Chirag United SC will have Australian defender Matthew Grbesa on trial.

If the trial is successful then Grbesa will replace fellow Aussie Keegan Nash under the Asian player quota who had been signed by Chirag United earlier in the season. But Keegan had to be released early due to a serious injury which would keep him out for most of the season.

The 1,86 metre tall Grbesa was the last three seasons with the Melbourne Knights FC, who play in the Victorian Premier League.

He prefers to play as a central defender, but can also be utilised as a defensive midfielder.

Grbesa is also in possesion of a Croatian passport.
