The controversy is finally over as the AIFF has cleared defenders Mahesh Gawli and Samir Naik to play again for their club Dempo SC.

The duo had been suspended by the national federation after Dempo did not release the duo for an ongoing India camp in Goa.

Dempo had not released the player as they were still carrying injuries which it could certify through their club doctor, but the AIFF still wanted the duo to join the India camp, which the club didn't allow.

Now the duo is eligible again to play for their club, but Dempo has been handed a fine of Rs 500,000 (5 lakhs) for not following the AIFF's ruling by the disciplinary committee. Dempo can still contest the fine with the appeals committee.
