Back home in Goa the Churchill Brothers family and fans were more then happy to see their team win the 114th IFA Shield.
A confident and victorious Patron of "Musli Power" Churchill Brothers SC and Goa State PWD Minister Churchill Alemao yesterday stated that his team winning the IFA Shield defeating Mohun Bagan in their home yard was a big historical day for the football lovers in Goa and it was done through the hard work of his players and coach, but especially his strong one man force player Odafe Onyeka Okolie.
Churchill Brothers had clinched their maiden IFA Shield title on Saturday afternoon by beating local giants Mohun Bagan 2-0 at Yuba Bharati Krirangan.
Speaking to Indian Football.Com owner Churchill Alemao said that when Odafe was there, there was no need for Churchill Brothers to be worried.
Mr Alemao also stated that he had announced a cash award of Rs 100,000 (1 Lakh) to him team and their members for winning the IFA Shield and bringing it for the first time to Goa.
Club president and GFA President Joaquim Alemao said that Churchill Brothers had made a lot of history in political life but for the first time Churchill Brothers had made history in football by winning the 114 year old IFA Shield Tournament which was a proud moment for Goa and for football lovers in the State as well as a proud moment for Churchill Brothers, their family and also for the players of the team.
Giving his views on Odafe Joaquim said that Odafe was a magic man for Churchill Brothers and gave the credit of the win to the teams performance.
