The year 2007 may be considered as the redemption of Indian football and a major achievement that fell into the Indian team kitty was their maiden Nehru Cup title under able stewardship of coach Robert Douglas 'Bob' Houghton.
The Dr. Ambedkar Stadium witnessed the history in making and so did thousands of fans who came in huge numbers to support 'The Bhangra Boys'. The Venue never saw such an outing when India defeated Syria by a solitary goal in the final to lift the Nehru Cup trophy.
