East Bengal Club coach and former international Subhas Bhowmick quashed reports about he being a contender for the post of AIFF General Secretary.

As reported on IndianFootball.Com Subhas Bhowmick had earlier shown interest to run for the post of AIFF General Secretary, but his club commitments at East Bengal Club wouldn't allow such a move at this point.

Speaking to IndianFootball.Com Subhas stated, “I definitely had an intention of applying. The problems which I have faced as a footballer and coach were top on my priority list. The vision for development were deeply entrenched in me. But this is not the time for me to jump into the process. I have committed myself to East Bengal. They are heavily relying on me for the coming season. I have recruited foreigners, local players according to my plan. Now if I jump responsibility then I can be rightly termed as unprofessional by East Bengal. I can’t do this. If the opportunity would have happened much before the start of  the season than I would have definitely taken a plunge. But for now coaching East Bengal is my priority and there is no opportunity to divert attention anywhere."
