Pereira to coach Churchill Brothers

Friday, 03. July 2009 - Arunava Chaudhuri
Brazilian Carlos Roberto Pereira da Silva has been appointed the new coach of I-League champions Churchill Brothers SC.
The seasoned coach from Rio takes over from Serbian Zoran Djordjevic who had last season given the Goans their first national title.
Pereira arrived on Wednesday in Goa and joined the clubs practice yesterday itself to get to know his new team. Pereira had an introductory session with his new team with only the three Nigerians - Odafe Onyeka Okolie, Ogba Kalu Nnanna, Felix Chimaokwu; and Indian international Gouramangi Moirangthem Singh missing.
But Pereira is no stranger to the Indian football scene after having coached Calcutta heavy weights East Bengal Club and Mohun Bagan AC besides Bengal Mumbai FC in the last three years. Expectations at Churchill Brothers are high after the club won their first I-League title last season and the Brazilian will be under pressure to deliver not only on the national stage, but also on the continental arena when the club takes part in AFC competitions, if AFC Champions League or AFC Cup will be only known later in the year.
