Robin Singh

Sunday, 28. June 2009 - Arunava Chaudhuri
Junior Indian international Robin Singh, who is also a Tata Football Academy cadet, is set for a month long training stint at the European Football Academy in London, England.
Before leaving for Europe we caught up with the talented youngster to speak about the European Football Academy and his aspirations as a footballer.
Arunava: What are your expectations from the training stint at the European Football Academy in London?
Robin: I have been at the Tata Football Academy for the last three years where the coaches and the training schedule have immensely improved my standards of the game. The basic aim for training at the European Football Academy is to further improve my skills, techniques and enhance my mental ability. I have already played 'Against' Asian and German teams but for a change I want to play 'With' an European team for better understanding of their playing pattern and skills. I will be training in London for four weeks starting June 28.
Arunava: How did the European Football Academy trip come about?
Robin: My family is committed to make me an outstanding footballer. It is owing to their dedication and commitment that has got me this far. My parents have not missed a single match I have played in India. My father was of the opinion that I needed to improve further on my mental strength and enhance skills. I was sent to the UAE for a ten days training earlier but did not achieve the desired results. It was then I asked my father that I wanted to train in Europe and the European Football Academy was chosen.
I wish all upcoming footballers have parents with the same dedication as mine!
Arunava: How has the last year been for you at the Tata Football Academy?
Robin: The last year at TFA has been very promising as I played most of the games in competitive tournaments across India. I played fairly well and it has been a fun year too. Wherever I have played I have received good support from the spectators and I am grateful for this public appreciation.
Arunava: You have less then a year to go as a TFA cadet. What do you aspire to do after the end of your stay in Jamshedpur?
Robin: I shall be passing out of TFA in March 2010. I am on the lookout for a club in India or abroad which is progressive and professional in its approach. My main criteria is that I must play and get the necessary exposure. I am here to play entertaining lively football and take Indian football to its next level.
If ever I become the Cristiano Ronaldo of India, I shall consider myself to have ARRIVED (laughs)!!!
Arunava: Thanks for talking to us and all the best in London!
