The Junior National Football Tournament for the B.C. Roy Trophy was instituted by the All-India
Football Federation in 1962. The Indian Football Association presented this trophy in the memory of former West Bengal Chief
Minister Cr. B.C. Roy. The then president of the IFA, M. Dutta Ray also the runners-up trophy, Mohan Dutta Ray Trophy. The
tournament is restricted to the players under 19 years.
