I
wanted to know if Baichung has any tips on ball control, speed, quickness, acceleration
and balance?
from Vikram Kumar, USA
I can only tell you that since you are just fifteen you need to do lots of ball work. Get yourself settled with the ball at this age. Once you start playing higher level you don’t get much to improve in your controls since you will be playing the way the managers want you to play. For quickness, acceleration and balance I think you require certain trainings. I can't explain you in words but I think your coaches must be able to show you the correct exercises.
How do you see the year 1999 for your own career?
It has been a good year for me to receive some awards like the Arjuna Award and the State Award. I also made it into Europe. So overall it was a good year.
How have the last six months been for you?
It has not been the way I would like to be. I have not been playing much. Neil Warnock left for Sheffield United. To top it all everything is new to me so it does take time to settle down.
What do you think of the future of indian football?
I don't see much change in Indian football coming up. If we need to do well then first thing is that we need dedicated people running the game. I am sure we can do well in world football. But there is no initiative shown and not much is done to improve the standard.
I
would like to know if this is the ideal time for the Indian football team to
play in England? Shouldn't we be playing more often with the top Asian countries
rather than touring England.
from Manish Kumar; India
I don’t exactly know whether it was the correct time for Indian tour. It’s only this time of the year that the clubs in Britain are free to play any friendly games. It is important to play asian teams also but when there is some offer coming like this I think it will definitely help some player a little way if not big way. Something is better then nothing I guess.
I
would like to ask Bhaichung if he had any comments on junior Football In India...Id
Also Like To Ask him why there aren't any oppurtunities for passionate young
players like me to play?
from Armaan Ahluwalia; Delhi, India
It is sad that we do lack the infrastructure in India when it comes to football. The only thing is just keep enjoying the game and take all the good advises from the coaches you come across. Do lot on ball work and get your basics done. The other way is to watch lots of matches and learn from those games. Keep playing hard and enjoy the game. I am sure things would go well for you. Good luck.
Has
your contract with Bury been extended ?
If no would you continue playing in England for some other club ?
Else would you come back to India ? If yes which club would you play for ?
from Sriram, India
