The future lies in the hands of the Indians

A couple of days after the 50th AFC Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Asian Football Confederation (AFC) stressed that 'Vision India' seminar held in the Capital in January was not a farce.
"Changes can't be implemented in a day. We need time," AFC Secretary General Peter Velappan told Times News Network on Wednesday. Though at the same time, Velappan, who has closely been monitoring All India Football Federation's functioning, warned: "As the 'Vision' is a tailor-made programme, the future of Indian football totally lies in the hands of Indians. Some goals have been proposed, but the Vision India team has to agree upon it," he opined.
Only the other day, Asian Football Confederation (AFC) president Mohamed Bin Hammam, at AFC Congress, announced: "India and China will be the future flag-bearers of Asian soccer. "
Defending the 'Vision Asia' seminar, Velappan said: "After our initial findings, we spent another couple of months trying to get the complete picture. After several researches, we drew up strategies to tackle the burning issues. We are in the midst of discussions with the 'Vision India' team on their priorities of development."

"AFC is very close to India. We don't wish to hurry things. But we know our priorities," he maintained.
